
A massive military operation to lift the siege on Amerli in Salah al-Din was launched on Friday.
Commander of Peace Brigades, Sheikh Kazem al-Issawi said in a statement to the National Iraqi News Agency / NINA / that a wide operation started this evening with the participation of troops of the army and peace brigades and the popular mobilization to lift the siege on Amerli.
He added that violent clashes took place with elements of the IS besieged the city.
The district of Amerli in Tuz was besieged by elements of the IS since more than 70 days, and its population is suffering from difficult situations because of this blockade .
