Sudan's Humanitarian Aid Commission (HAC), the government regulatory body charged with monitoring the work of international and national non-governmental organizations in the country, warned foreign organizations operating in Sudan against practicing political activities or interfering in the country's political affairs.
In press statements Sunday, Commissioner Ahmed Mohamed Adan unveiled that a foreign organization operating in the western Sudanese region of Darfur was expelled out of the country after violating laws regulating the work of foreign organizations.
Liquidating any foreign organization is done under the Sudanese law, he said, stressing that Sudan rejects politicization of humanitarian work.
Humanitarian organizations are not political platforms, he added.
The commission also urged the the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement North (SPLM-N) to abide by the agreement signed between the UN, African Union and the Arab League as regards delivering humanitarian assistance to needy people in South Kordofan and the Blue Nile states.
The Sudanese government banned the access of foreign groups to the rebel-held areas in South Kordofan and Blue Nile as well as the establishment of camps for the displaced civilians, stressing the experience of Darfur camps should not be repeated in the two states.
The UN has estimated that there are over 1 million people in the two areas that have been displaced or severely affected by the conflict.
