Sudan welcomed on Tuesday the announcement of an open-ended ceasefire in Gaza, brokered by Egypt, calling for commitment of both parties to the agreement.
"The truce is a victory for the Palestinian people," Sudanese Foreign Ministry spokesman Yousef al-Kurdufani said.
He also called for starting reconstruction projects in Gaza.
A long-term ceasefire has been agreed between Israel and the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, ending seven weeks of fighting that left more than 2,200 people - mostly Palestinians – dead.
The agreement included opening crossings, allowing humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip, in addition to reconstruction materials.
