Egypt's Consul General in Port Sudan Hani Bassiouni asserted that a helicopter of the Sudanese Army is still searching the area where the Egyptian fishing boat capsized as two of its 14-member crew were rescued.
In statements to MENA, Bassiouni said the Egyptian boat was reported capsized close to the Sudanese-Eritrean borders where a survey of the sea was conducted in search for any survivors.
The Sudanese Naval troops are working round-the-clock to make sorties over the reported area, added the diplomat.
He also said that contacts have been made with the Egyptian Embassy in Eritrea to coordinate search efforts in the Eritrean regional waters.
On Saturday, President Abdel Fattah El Sisi ordered the dispatch of a naval rescue ship to Port Sudan Harbor to contribute to search and rescue operations for the missing Egyptian fishermen in cooperation with the Sudanese Naval troops.
Egyptian Ambassador in Khartoum Osama Shaltout said President Sisi is following up the rescue efforts in search for the missing 12 fishermen.
