Sudanese president Omer Hassan al Bashir addressed on Saturday the 26th Arab Summit, currently in session in the Red Sea resort of Sharm el Sheikh.
Delivering his speech, Al Bashir extended thanks to Egypt's President Abdel Fattah El Sisi over the organization of the summit, praising his efforts to retrieve Cairo's historic role in the region.
The Sudanese president urged Arab states to keep united in face of what he called "great challenges."
Also, he repeated thanks to Cairo over invitation to visit Sharm el Sheikh after his participation in the Egypt Economic Development Conference, held on March 13.
He praised as a "historic event" the signing of a document of the Declaration of Principles on the Ethiopian Renaissance Dam in Khartoum.
Sudanese president Omer Hassan al Bashir stressed urgency of maintaining a pan-Arab security strategy.
"Maintenance of Arab national security shall be placed on top of the Arab Summit agenda," he told the Arab summit currently in session in the Red Sea resort of Sharm el Sheikh.
"Efforts exerted to develop a mechanism of joint Arab action and amendment of the Arab League charter along with the latest regional changes," he said.
The president urged highest level of care to re-assess the situation in the region, warning, unity and safety of Arab people necessitate strong and collective willingness from Arab neighbors.
Sudan has a strong belief in the Arab League's charter and its role to enhance interdependence and cooperation to achieve as many political, economic and social aims as possible, al Bashir said.
He lauded efforts exerted to reactivate mechanisms adopted to implement agreement and joint projects.
Al Bashir also called for precise diagnosis of threats of terrorism and extremism in the region, saying, developing an approach for intellectual, cultural and religious strategies is a must for confrontation.
Also, he asserted Sudan "will not rule out addressing the phenomenon via political and security means" to maintain stability and protect social peace.
Sudanese President Omer Hassan al Bashir on Saturday shed light on the Arab states suffering violent conflict, split and severe polarization saying they opened doors for radical groups to commit terror attacks and murders.
Addressing the 26th Arab Summit in Sharm el Sheikh, al Bashir added, such groups have been giving privileges for foreign states to interfere and exposed Arab states for the danger of division.
He reaffirmed support to the Iraqi government in calling for building a homeland that gives room for all factions.
Also, he voiced concern over the situation in Syria, calling for an end to the suffering of the Syrian people.
"Sudan follows up the situation in Yemen with much care," he said, adding, Houthis have impeded national dialogue and political process.
He pledged "unlimited support" to Saudi-led military operations in Yemen.
Sudan plays an effective role in the operations and hopes a strong statement backing the military action to revive Arab joint work, he said.
On Libya, al Bashir stressed a political solution is possible, if rival factions believed in co-existence.
He noted Khartoum's support to UN efforts to bring the Libyans together at the table of negotiations.
Sudanese President Omer Hassan al Bashir on Saturday voiced full support to the UAE in its legitimate right to maintain sovereignty over its three Gulf islands, expressing hope that this would be done through peaceful negotiations.
Addressing the 26th Arab Summit in Sharm el Sheikh, al Bashir said "We renew support to the Somali people and government … to rebuild the state institutions and stability."
Also, he praised efforts exerted by the Arab league to follow up the implementation of recommendations and decisions adopted during the Arab summit held in January 2013.
The president reiterated the necessity to bolster economic relations and raise trade volume among Arab states.
He concluded his speech with a briefing on his government's efforts to reach "Arab food security", asserting confidence in Arab funds to finance new projects.
Al Bashir hinted at more efforts to reach inclusive dialogue paving the way for a new constitution.
He pledged commitment to the outcomes of the dialogue.
