A sudden landslide on the Banha-Mansoura highway, causing a five-square-meter deep crater, disrupted traffic on Monday.
The landslide was reported near the Qalubiya village of Asneet in Kafr Shukr town. A cordon was imposed around the crater and traffic was diverted to alternative routes.
Initial examination showed that the sudden landslide was caused by a river way passing beneath Asneet Bridge feeding agricultural lands in the area.
Qalubiya Governor Mohamed Abdel Zaher assigned the General Nile Company for Roads and Bridges to inspect the scene and fix the situation, head of Kafr Shukr town Mohamed el Hady said.
