A 28-year-old Arab employee of a fast food joint caused quite a drama for one-and-a-half hours by climbing to the roof of the three-storied building housing the joint in downtown Fujairah and threatened to jump off on Sunday afternoon. He climbed to the rooftop at 12.20pm and started creating a stir, threatening to commit suicide. A large crowd of people gathered around the building. After several attempts and cajoling, the police and Civil Defence personnel managed to convince the man about the futility of his attempt. A policeman climbed to the rooftop and arrested him. He was taken to the police station and interrogated to find out the reasons for his suicide attempt. However, the police declined to give the reasons which, they said, would be announced after the investigation ends. From : Khaleej times.
