Syria's Deputy Foreign Faisal Mekdad said on Saturday that the latest decision of the Turkish government to join the U.S.-led anti-terror coalition is "a huge deception," the state news agency SANA reported.
The Turkish government is the "real father of terrorism who supports terrorism and not fighting it," Mekdad said.
On Thursday, Turkish parliament passed a motion to authorize cross-border military actions in Syria and Iraq, joining the U.S.- led anti-terror coalition, which has been on a mission in Syria against the positions of the Islamic State (IS) terror militants and like-minded groups.
The decision grants the Turkish government a one-year mandate to send Turkish armed forces "to foreign countries for cross- border operations and interventions and to position foreign militaries in Turkey for the same purposes."
Mekdad stressed that the Turkish government seeks to commit aggression against Syria under the pretext of fighting the IS, adding that Turkish parliament authorization of cross-border military actions is "an aggression" that violates all international charters and laws.
The deputy foreign minister also slammed the exiled Syrian opposition groups, all of which were formed in Turkey.
"All organizations that were formed in Turkey under the name of 'Syrian opposition' later turned to be a part of the al-Qaida- linked Nusra Front and the IS terrorist organizations," Mekdad said, adding that the involvement of Western and Arab governments in the Syrian crisis and the shedding of the Syrian blood wouldn't have taken place without the "suspicious role and incitement of the Turkish government."
The Turkish government has emerged as a main backer to the Syrian rebels throughout Syria's long-running crisis. Government officials in Syria charge that Turkey has allowed the foreign jihadists to use its territories as a conduit to Syria.
