Warplanes of the Syrian regime carried out attacks on Aleppo in the north and Deraa in the south leaving at least 10 people dead and properties damaged or in ruins, according to the Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR).
The aircraft targeted AlSakhour district in Aleppo, Syria's second largest city, where a number of people were killed and wounded. In AlKallaseh, southwestern Aleppo, five people, including a baby, died and several others were wounded in an identical attack.
The warplanes also bombed the town of Mayer, Hayyan in Aleppo's countryside, while on the ground, fighting broke out between the regime troops and several Islamicinspired opposition factions in Jabal Ezzan in the southern rural regions of Aleppo. Reports indicated at casualties but there have been no breakdown figures of the human losses. Meanwhile, gunship helicopters dropped "barrel bombs" on Deir Hafer near Aleppo killing and wounding a number of people. Identical attacks targeted vicinity of Kwaires airport near the northern city.
In Deraa, five people, members of a single family, died in such air attacks. On the ground, clashes raged on in several areas in the southern province, amid reports the regime was dispatching reinforcements to the region.
Some 300,000 people have died in the ongoing warfare in Syria since the conflict broke out in March 2011. In the beginning, the regime faced unarmed disturbances and protests, but later the popular action snowballed into fullfledged armed confrontations with the regime forces. The crisis began with demands for reforms and political change. Millions of Syrians lost their homes, had to be relocated inside Syria or ended up as refugees in neighboring countries. Losses are estimated in billions of dollars.
