Syrian embassy in Moscow denies Assad death

An official at the Syrian embassy in Syria denied news reports on the killing of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, RIA Novosti reported on Monday. The official told the news agency that the Syrian president is still in his position, noting that he was assigned by the Syrian ambassador in Moscow to deny such "fabricated" news. A number of news websites and papers have reported the news of an assassination attempt against the Syrian president. Also, the US New York Daily News reported that Assad was killed by one of his Iranian guards on Saturday.
