The Syrian opposition on Thursday said that the statement of principles to be announced by the UN Syria special envoy late on the day is a step in the right direction.
At a press conference, Syrian opposition deputy head George Sabra said that having the political transition as a base of the political process and negotiations is the right thing to do.
The next round of talks will be in the second week of April, Sabra added.
The statement includes common principles covering the rejection of terrorism, the rebuilding of the Syrian army, a democratic non-sectarian state, zero tolerance of reprisals, the right of return for refugees, rejection of foreign interference in Syria and a political transition of power.
