The Syrian opposition's Higher Negotiations Committee urged on Thursday the international community to put an end to the bombardment and starvation of civilians, which hinder peace talks the UN is seeking to hold tomorrow in Geneva.
In a message to the UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, the Syrian opposition urged the Security Council member states, particularly the five permanent members, to shoulder their responsibility in implementing resolution 2254, Sky News reported.
It said it was awaiting Ban's response to their message.
The resolution calls for an end to shelling of civilian areas and lifting the siege on besieged areas.
The committee's spokesman said the opposition was ready to participate in the talks. However, the talks are being obstructed by those who shell and starve civilians in Syria, he added.
