Tayyeb lauds Azhar role in region

Al-Azhar Grand Imam Dr Ahmed el-Tayyeb hailed Al-Azhar's leading role as a beacon of knowledge for the Islamic world. He also pointed out to its important role in disseminating the moderate teachings of Islam. All the documents issued by Al-Azhar, the highest seat of learning in the Sunni Muslim world, were approved by all the coalitions and national powers in Egypt, Tayyeb said during his meeting Sunday with member of the National Constituent Assembly in Tunisia Abdel-Meguid el-Naggar. El-Naggar, for his part, hailed Al-Azhar's role in the Constituent Assembly, tasked with drafting Egypt's constitution. The two sides also discussed the latest developments in Egypt and Tunisia, underlining the need of achieving consensus among national powers to achieve national interests.
