The General Department of Traffic will review and increase penalties against traffic violators in order to limit these violations, and protect lives and property on roads.
After the launch of the traffic center at Riyadh Airport on Monday, Director of the Traffic Department Maj. Gen. Abdullah Al-Zahrani said studies are in place to increase sanctions for violating traffic regulations so that such penalties are in line with those in all countries.
In response to a question by a local newspaper about traffic police using a new kind of sophisticated motorcycle, Al-Zahrani said modern types of motorcycles were tested and are subject to evaluation to determine their suitability for traffic conditions. He said these motorcycles will used after passing certain tests, stressing that the use of the motorcycle in traffic work has become an important factor due to its ability to move quickly through traffic and break up bottlenecks.
