Train movement along the first metro line is back to normal after a 20-minute halt.
Earlier on Friday, police received a report about a strange object on the tracks between the Ezbet el Nakhl and el Marg el Qadima stations, spokesman for the metro authority Ahmed Abdel Hadi told MENA.
Train movement partially stopped between the Matariya and el Marg el Gedida stations for 20 minutes, Abdel Hadi said.
As it turned out, a number of unidentified persons had thrown a butane gas tank on the tracks and fled the scene.
