A Zagazig criminal court postponed the trial of 16 defendants over charges of joining a cell affiliated with Daesh to February 8.
The court postponed the hearing to listen to the prosecution witnesses and resume the pleadings.
The hearing was held amid tight security measures on Monday.
According to investigations, a policeman relieved from service had formed a terror cell in contact with Daesh to lure and recruit youths.
He also eased their travel to Syria and Iraq with fake passports and IDs to receive military training and make all types of explosives to return home and apply what they learned on the ground against police, army, state and judicial institutions, the investigations showed. The man was funded by Daesh.
The 16 defendants are facing charges of joining a terrorist group abroad and propagating Takfiri ideology.
