A Cairo court on Saturday adjourned until October 15 the trial of two national security officers over the death of a lawyer at a police station.
The pair, identified as Omar Mahmoud Omar Hammad and Mohamed el Anwar Mahmadeen, are accused of torturing Karim Hamdy to death while in custody at Matariyah police station.
The court has heard the testimony of a forensic expert who said the lawyer suffered internal hemorrhage and pulmonary laceration that led, along with other injuries, to death.
He said the death time was unclear as the forensic examination of the body was delayed.
The police station's former commander Mahmoud Abdullah said Hamdy showed signs of exhaustion while being moved for interrogation by the prosecution. He ordered him to be transferred to hospital before the death.
Hamdy was arrested on February 22.
