Trial of 213 Bait al-Maqdes suicide delayed

Cairo criminal court decided during a session on Tuesday to postpone the trial of 213 dangerous elements of the terrorist Bait Al Maqdes organization to October 13.

The defendants are accused of committing more than 54 crimes including the failed assassination attempt on the life of former interior minister Mohamed Ibrahim, as well as the bombings of security directorates in Cairo, Daqahlia and Sinai.

The court heard the testimonies of Major Karim Farouq of the national security sector, who said the defendants used a car bomb to attack the Cairo security directorate.

Investigations revealed that the defendants received military training at the camps of Ezziddin Al Qassam Brigades, the military wing of the Palestinian Hamas movement, and continued communications with Al Qaeda.

The investigations also revealed that ousted president Mohamed Morsi was, during his rule, in contact with the leadership of Bait Al Maqdes and they agreed that the organization stop committing crimes during Morsi rule.
