
Giza criminal court on Sunday postponed the trial of 379 defendants of the terrorist Muslim Brotherhood (MB) group to February 8.
The MB defendants are charged with participating in the 2013 armed Nahda Square sit-in, premeditated murder and the formation of armed gangs.
Public Prosecution investigations revealed that the MB members staged an armed sit-in and launched attacks from their camps at the citizens in the districts surrounding Al Istiqama Mosque, Al Bahr Al Azam and Al Sarayat and other areas in Giza governorate.
Their armed attacks claimed the lives of several citizens and policemen, the prosecution added.
Attacks by the MB members on policemen left two killed and injured 27 others, destroyed 52 police vehicles.
They were arrested with automatic rifles, gun shots as well as ammunition, locally-made bombs, gas masks as well as chest protectors and Molotov cocktails.
As many as 187 of MB elements admitted their affiliation to the terrorist group and their involvement in the armed sit-in using various types of weapons upon orders from the group leaders.
