Trial of 494 muslim brotherhood members over Ramsis clashes adjourned

Cairo Criminal Court ordered Saturday the trial of 494 Muslim Brotherhood (MB) members to be put off till March 6 session.

The postponement came to allow the witnesses to attend the trial session.

The accused MB members face charges in connection with killing, committing acts of violence and sabotage against public and private property and the police forces in Cairo's district of Ramses in August 2013, among other accusations.

The clashes left 44 people killed and 59 others, including 22 policemen, injured.

Earlier, prosecution revealed that the MB called for protests in the area in front of Fath Mosque in Ramses district, downtown Cairo, on August 16th, 2013.

MB supporters reached through the Sixth of October Bridge and started to shoot passersby and police forces deployed in the area.

They also attacked the nearby Azbakya police station with Molotov cocktails and machine guns and set the Arab Contractors company building and other buildings on fire.
