Trial of Morsi, 35 others over espionage charges postponed to Wednesday

The Cairo Criminal Court decided Sunday to postpone until Wednesday the trial of ousted president Mohamed Morsi and 35 defendants of the Muslim Brotherhood group on charges of spying.
The postponement was taken to resume the defense pleadings in the case.
Morsi and the 35 other Brotherhood figures stand accused of collaborating with foreign organizations to commit acts of terrorism in Egypt, revealing defense secrets to a foreign country, funding terrorists and organizing military training "to achieve the purposes of the international organization of the Brotherhood," the public prosecution had said.
The prosecution specifically accuses them of collaborating with the Gaza-based Hamas, the Lebanese Shiite group of Hezbollah and other organizations "inside and outside" Egypt to smuggle arms, organize military training for group members in the Gaza Strip and fund a scheme to stir chaos and threaten national security in Egypt.
