A truce came into effect on Sunday between the Syrian army and armed groups in Damascus and Idlib countrysides, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) said.
Calm is now prevailing in al Fu'ah and Kafarya townships in Idlib governorate, and al Zabadani and Madaya cities in Damascus, Sky News TV channel quoted a SOHR statement as saying.
The two-day truce was reached after Islamist groups controlled large swaths of al Fu'ah town early in the day after fierce clashes with the government troops.
Negotiations are underway over the release of captives and the dispatch of aid supplies into the affected areas.
