The activities of the Truth and Dignity Commission will start on December 1, 2014, President of the Truth and Dignity Commission Sihem Ben Sedrine announced on Saturday.
“The Truth and Dignity Commission is entitled to hold to account any Tunisian suspected of having committed a crime against his fellow countryman after the revelation of the truth,” argued Ben Sedrine at a meeting in Sfax.
The President of the Truth and Dignity Commission stressed the commitment to conduct consultations with the civil society in different regions to collect proposals and use them in the strategic plan of transitional justice being finalised.
Proposals made by representatives of the civil society during this meeting provide, in particular, for the creation of a court specialised in transitional justice in Sfax while establishing contacts with victims of repression and offering them guarantees of compensation for damage and injustices.
