UAE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Anwar bin Mohammed Gargash met Thursday with United Nations Special Envoy for Yemen Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed.
During the meeting, the UN official briefed Gargash on the latest developments on the Yemeni negotiations and details of the next round, which is scheduled to be held during January, reported WAM News Agency.
Ahmed hailed the UAE's support for peaceful efforts by the UN in Yemen.
Gargash stressed that the UAE is strongly supporting the political solution based on international and regional references on the Yemeni crisis.
He pointed out that a fair political solution is the option that unifies the Yemeni people and ensures the long-term security, stability and prosperity in Yemen.
He noted the need to activate and expand the scope of relief support to include all governorates of Yemen, stressing the seriousness of possible exploitation of this for short-term political objectives.
