UN Envoy condemns Yemen explosions

Envoy of United Nations Secretary-General to the Yemen Jamal Bin Omar has condemned the suicide attack which hit Badr and Al-Hashosh mosques in the capital Sana'a which left hundreds dead and wounded.
In a statement he issued today the UN Envoy said the "phenomenon of the targeting of mosques on a sectarian basis is a serious indicator of the deterioration of security conditions and the possibility of turning the current political standoff to a crack in the Yemeni community threatening its cultural and humanitarian fabric, its unity, security and stability." He called on all Yemeni components to understand the gravity of the current situation and to stop its exacerbation by exercising maximum restraint, halt of all hostilities, and avoidance of the use of violence for political purposes.
Jamal Bin Omar meanwhile reminded of the content of Security Council resolution 2201, which expressed great concern over the ability of terrorist organizations to take advantage of the deteriorating security and political situations in Yemen, saying that emerged through attacks on mosques.
He also noted that the warnings he made earlier on the possibility that the situation in Yemen could slide to a similar Iraqi-Libyan-Syrian situation which the defenceless Yemeni civilians would pay its invoice unless a political solution ending the current crisis retracting the political process was reached.
Four suicide bombing hit the Yemeni capital Sana'a yesterday killing about 137 people and injuring 357 others including children.
