Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary General and head of the UN Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) Martin Kobler expressed relief over the release of Libyan lawmaker Mohamed al Ra’id.
In a Facebook post, Kobler said the release of the Misrata lawmaker, who was abducted Wednesday on his way to the airport after participating in a parliament session in Tobruk, is a good chance to reiterate calls to unconditionally release all persons held illegally.
A militia group had abducted Ra’id, demanding the release of two prisoners, held over criminal charges, in Tobruk.
