
United Nations Deputy Secretary General Jan Eliasson and heads of delegations participating in the UN General Assembly session on the world drug problem hailed Egypt's role in leading the session's preparation process, resulting in the success of negotiations on the final document of the event.
The role was undertaken by Egyptian Ambassador to Austria and permanent delegate to international organizations in Vienna Khaled Shamaa.
The UN special session kicked off Tuesday in New York with the participation of a large number of heads of state and government and senior officials from around the world to discuss means to fight the drug problem, Egyptian embassy secretary here Ahmed el Ghoul told MENA.
The session will run for three days, Ghoul said, adding that its final document on international efforts to face the drug problem around the world in the coming three years was ratified.
