
Number of refugees who have fled the Syrian civil war to Lebanon has risen from 677,000 to 688,000 within a week, according to the UN. The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees said in a report, released on Monday, that 576,000 of the refugees registered their names at the UNHCR. There are 194,000 Syrian refugees in North Lebanon, 197,000 in the eastern Bekaa valley, 111,000 in Mount Lebanon and 74,000 in South Lebanon. Up to 7,000 Syrians fleeing the violence in their homeland arrived in Lebanon last week, the report said, noting that those who carry with them identity cards enjoy easy access to aid.
