
Residents living near Rafah border crossing are being evacuated as work continues in phase two of Rafah-Gaza security buffer zone.
Some 2,044 families would move to alternative housing units. Security sources said 192 houses, out of 1,220, have already been demolished.
He added that each affected family will receive EGP 1,200 per square meter in compensations. In addition to the EGP 1,500 in urgent aid.
In November, Egypt said it would double the width of the buffer zone from 500 meters to one kilometer in a second phase. The zone is 13 kilometers in length.
