Defense Minister in the resigned Yemeni government Mahmoud al Sobihi arrived here Wednesday coming from Lahaj governorate, where he reached at dawn Sunday escaping a siege by the Houthis who have taken control in the country.
Sobihi is expected to meet with President Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi later in the day.
The defense minister was forced by Houthis to work with them after they had seized the presidential headquarters and issued a constitutional declaration.
Sobihi on Tuesday turned down an invitation by the presdent to head for Aden, southern Yemen, to take part in a cabinet meeting chaired by Khaled Bajaj to be attended by 15 ministers.
A delegation visited Sobihi in his home in Lahaj governorate in southern Yemen but failed to persuade him to head for Aden and join the president. His reasons were to avoid siding with any party whether the president and his supporters or the Houthis and their supporters in light of the crisis the country is going through.
