The Defense Ministry said on Saturday that al-Qaeda militants have killed 14 soldiers near Shibam city in the eastern Hadramout governorate.
The soldiers were kidnapped from a public bus on Friday, while on their way from Sayoun city towards the Capital Sana'a.
The militants stopped the bus, checked the passengers' IDs and took the soldiers by force, then executed them. The bodies were left on the road.
The soldiers in civilian clothes were returning home from duty, on leave after serving in the area.
The reinforcements came a day after terrorist attack on the camp. The attack was thwarted and 8 terrorists were killed, while two soldiers were killed and three others wounded.
The attack was an apparent act of revenge for a recent army crackdown in the area. The armed and security forces have killed at least 25 al-Qaeda militants in a series of confrontations in the Wadi Hadramout area in the past week.
