Yemeni military forces, backed by members of the Popular Resistance Committees (PRCs), are to enter Sanaa within the coming few days, spokesman for Yemeni army Brigadier General Samir al Haj asserted on Monday.
In statements, reported by the media center of the military council in Taiz city, al Haj said the situation on the ground around Sanaa has encouraged the Yemeni troops and the PRC members to move toward the Yemeni capital.
Houthi militants, stationed in Sanaa, will incur heavy losses on all fronts if the Yemeni army manages to enter Sanaa, Taiz media center quoted al Haj as saying.
Clashes erupted on Sunday between the Yemeni army forces, backed by the PRC members, and Houthi militants, in which 16 Houthis and two members of the PRCs were killed and scores injured.
About 12 Yemeni people were killed in the Houthi indiscriminate shelling of residential districts in Taiz city, according to the media center.
