
A security talk session between Yemen and Somalia headed by the two countries' Interior Ministers Abdul-Qader Qahtan and Abdelkarim Hussein Guled kicked off here on Tuesday. The talks focused on the security cooperation relations between the two brotherly countries, topped by the cooperation in refugee issues, training the Somali police, the fight against organized crime, terrorism, sea piracy and smuggling. Qahtan underlined Yemen's keenness to strengthen joint security cooperation relations with Somalia and to serve the two brotherly peoples, and the security and stability in the region. He pointed to the facilities offered by Yemen to the Somali refugees and the efforts made by the Yemeni security services to combat illegal immigration and smuggling. The Somali Interior Minister praised the role Yemen played to support Somalia during the past two decades, stressing the importance of joint security cooperation in many security fields, including training, fighting on terrorism and piracy for the region's security and stability.
