Two terror suspects in Kenya on Saturday were shot dead in Diani, Kwale County and two pistols with 16 rounds of ammunition recovered.
The terror suspects were killed after police officers raided their home while acting on a tip off from members of the public.
Police say the two are believed to have returned from Somalia after training by Al Shabaab militias.
A police officer was injured during the incident but Kwale County Commissioner Evans Achoki says he is in stable condition.
“We were tipped about the two and raided the house and managed to kill the two. Unfortunately our colleague was shot in the chest but is in stable condition,” a senior officer leading the operation said.
The guns were handed over to detectives for ballistic examination.
Last week, police released names and photographs of at least 10 wanted terror suspects who sneaked into the country from Somalia.
According to police the suspects could be planning terror attacks in coastal region that has in past witnessed numerous attacks.
Police have vowed to pursue the terror suspects to avert further attacks.
