
Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry on Tuesday received Stephen O'Brien, the Representative of the British Prime Minister to the Sahel and African Desert Region.
The two sides took up the political and security situation in the Sahel region, especially in light of an escalating activity by terrorist groups, said Egyptian Foreign Minister Spokesman Ambassador Badr Abdel Aati.
He added that the meeting also dealt with efforts made to fight terrorism and extremism in the region along with efforts to stand up to drugs and arms smuggling.
The Egyptian top diplomat reviewed at the meeting Egyptian measures and contribution in the field of fighting terrorism, added the spokesman.
Meanwhile, the British envoy also expounded the view of his country and Europe at large regarding means of addressing these challenges, added the spokesman.
