
Israeli army started a military exercise in the West Bank including 13,000 soldiers from reserve forces in addition to regular troops, the Israeli radio reported on Sunday.
The radio mentioned the training was upon instructions by the new Israeli General Chief of Staff Gadi Eisenkot and also based on military developments that might escalate in the West Bank this year.
The two-day drills will include all formations of the Israeli Central Command, including air, intelligence, and special units of the General Command of the Israeli Army.
The radio added there is an active movement of Israeli forces in the West Bank and that the Palestinian Authority was informed on these exercises.
The Israeli military did not conduct such exercises since incursion in the Palestinian territories of 2002.
