Palestinian MP and Head of the Popular Committee against the Siege on the Gaza Strip Jamal al Khodari underlined that the Israeli blockade imposed on the enclave for about 10 years is the longest in the modern history as it harms about two million persons and has catastrophic consequences on all fields.
In press statements on Thursday, al Khodari said that the siege prevented the Palestinians from practising their normal rights guaranteed by the international laws and conventions, adding that these rights include freedom and establishing a Palestinian independent state with Al Quds (East Jerusalem) as its capital.
The Palestinians should live a decent life on their territories without occupation, blockade or settlements, he underscored.
The health, economic, infrastructure and environmental sectors have been harmed by the siege, al Khodari reiterated, noting that Israel closed most of the crossings.
