Israeli forces early Thursday demolished a poultry slaughterhouse and an automobile workshop in the village of Ni'lin, northwest of Ramallah, as well as a house and a water well in the town of Samou, south of Hebron, according to local sources.
Coordinator of Anti-Wall and Settlement Committee in Ni’lin, Mohammad Amera, said that Israeli forces demolished an automobile repair workshop belonging to Khaled Istaih, a local Palestinian, depriving 15 repair workers from their source of livelihood.
Forces also demolished a poultry slaughterhouse belonging to Issa Srour, a Palestinian from the village, in the village. The demolished slaughterhouse used to employ about 72 workers, Amera added.
Mayor of Ni'lin Nader al-Khawaja confirmed that the demolitions took place without any prior notice. He estimated the losses as a result of the demolition of the 700-square-meter slaughterhouse to be over one million shekels (about US$ 264,000).
The demolitions came about a month after forces had demolished sanitary ware stores, automobile repair shops, a carpentry and some agricultural structures, citing unlicensed building as a pretext.
In the meantime, Israeli troops demolished a house, which is currently being constructed, a caravan, and a water well, as well as razed tracts of land in the town of Samou, near Hebron.
This came only shortly after the Israeli army demolished residential structures in the village of Kherbet Tana, southeast of Nablus in the West Bank.
