Palestine deplores execution of Palestinian youth by Israeli soldier

The Palestinian Foreign Ministry condemned on Sunday in the strongest terms the execution of a Palestinian youth at the hands of an Israeli soldier in Hebron city earlier.

The killing of Abdul Fattah El Sherif, 21, proves that the Israeli army has no ethics, the ministry said in a statement.

It also criticized the Israeli premier and education minister for their statements in support of the Israeli soldier.

The ministry called on the international community and the International Criminal Court open a probe into all field executions carried out by Israeli troops in the Palestinian territories. 

An Israeli soldier was detained after a video emerged Thursday afternoon that shows the soldier shooting a Palestinian man in the head as he lies injured on the street in Hebron.

The video, provided by B'Tselem, an Israeli human rights organization, shows a small crowd of Israeli soldiers and medics standing around a Palestinian man, identified as Abdul Fattah El Sherif, lying on the ground.
