Unidentified assailants last night set fire to the home of the sole witness to the Duma crime, which was carried out by Israeli settlers in 2015 and killed an entire family leaving a 4-year-old an orphan.
Ghassan Daghlas, who monitors settlement activities in the northern West Bank, told WAFA that unidentified assailants attacked with Molotov cocktails the house of local Ibrahim Dawabsheh at midnight, causing him and his wife to suffocate due to smoke inhalation.
In July 2015, Israeli settlers attacked the home of Sa’ad Dawabsheh – also with Molotov cocktails – setting it on fire and killing a toddler. The parents of toddler, Ali, succumbed to their third-degree burns while receiving treatment in Israeli hospitals, leaving 4-year-old Ahmad an orphan.
Due to the similarities between both attacks, Daghlas said the attack was most probably carried out by settlers.
Governor of Nablus, Akram Rajoub, said last night’s attack was meant to intimidate the Palestinian people.
He called on local villagers to activate the role of the “night guard patrols” in order to fend off any possible future attacks by Israeli settlers.
