Arab League condemns suicide attack in Libyan city of Zeliten

Arab League (AL) Secretary-General Nabil el Arabi strongly condemned Friday the terrorist attack that targeted a coastal guard training camp in the western Libyan city of Zeliten.

In a statement, el Arabi urged all the Libyan factions to set aside their differences and unite to accelerate the formation of a new national unity government according to the UN brokered Libyan political agreement, signed in the Moroccan city of Skhirat.

The AL chief called on all the Libyan parties to concert their efforts to face terrorist groups, trying to seize the current conditions in order to disrupt the political solution and destabilize Libya and its sovereignty.

El Arabi offered his condolences to all families of the victims of the attack and wished the injured a speedy recovery.

At least 65 people were and 127 more injured in a truck bombing that targeted the coastal guard training center in the western Libyan city of Zeliten.

Media in Libya said the attack struck the al Jahfal training camp.

Libya has been unstable since the overthrow of Muammar Gaddafi's regime in 2011, and there is concern the Daesh group is gaining a foothold there.

The country has since been run by two governments - only one of which is recognized by the international community.
