
Palestinian President Mahamoud Abbas on Wednesday offered his condolences to Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi over the death of former United Nations Secretary General Boutros Boutros Ghali.
"Ghali was a dear brother, loyal to his country as well as a renowned political and legal figure," Wafa News Agency quoted Abbas' words in his cable of condolences as saying.
"Ghali devoted his life to defend his nation and to achieve justice and peace all over the world," he added, "Palestinians will always remember his pro-Palestine stance, defending Palestinians' rights."
Meanwhile, Abbas offered condolences to his Egyptian counterpart over the death of prominent Egyptian writer and journalist Mohamed Hassanein Heikal who died today.
"Heikal was a prominent figure and symbol of the Arab press. Palestinians will not forget his support for Palestinian cause," Abbas said in his cable of condolences, "May his soul rest in peace."
