The Cabinet, chaired by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salaman, reaffirmed its commitment to safeguard the sanctity of the Two Holy Mosques and said those supporting Houthis who had launched missile attacks toward Makkah are the supporters of terrorism.
Those supporting the terror group and providing it with weapons and ballistic missiles are partners in the attack on the sanctity of the religious sites, the Cabinet said.
The Cabinet discussed the statement issued by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation after its emergency meeting that discussed the launch of ballistic missiles by Houthi militias toward Makkah.
King Salman briefed the Cabinet on his discussion with Lebanese President Michel Aoun during which the king reaffirmed Saudi Arabia’s support for unity in Lebanon.
The king also briefed the Cabinet on his talks with President Yunus-bek Yevkurov of Ingushetia and special envoy to Chinese President Meng Jianzhu.
Acting Culture and Information Minister Dr. Essam bin Saad bin Said said the Cabinet appreciated the statement by the director general of International Atomic Energy Agency about the Saudi position regarding nuclear disarmament and its non-proliferation.
The Cabinet also discussed the outcome of the Energy Dialogue Forum 2016 held in Riyadh. Kingdom’s signing of the Paris Agreement on Climate Change, which reflects the importance being accorded by Saudi Arabia to climate change, was also welcomed by the Cabinet.
The Cabinet reviewed a number of activities and events including the work of the Fourth Saudi International Conference on Information Technology for 2016 organized by King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology entitled “Massive Data Analysis” as well as Saudi-Qatari Economic Forum.
It praised the efforts being made by security agencies to curb narcotic smuggling and trafficking.
The Cabinet approved two draft agreements between Saudi Arabia and Qatar — one on border security and the other on fighting crime.
After reviewing a report from the Ministry of Culture and Information, the Cabinet approved an agreement on cooperation and news exchange between Saudi Press Agency and Qatar News Agency signed in Doha in 2013.
After reviewing a report of Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Cabinet approved the General Cooperation Agreement between Saudi Arabia and Togo signed in Riyadh in February 2016.
The Cabinet authorized the minister of health or his deputy to discuss with the Finnish side a draft memorandum of understanding between the Ministry of Health of Saudi Arabia and the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health of Finland on cooperation in the fields of health, sign it, and submit the final version to complete legal procedures.
After reviewing a report of the Minister of Energy, Industry and Mineral Resources, the Cabinet approved the memorandum of understanding between Saudi Arabia and United Mexican States on cooperation in the sectors of oil and gas signed in Riyadh this year.
The Cabinet authorized the president of King Abdullah City for Atomic and Renewable Energy or his deputy to discuss with South African side a draft agreement for cooperation in the field of renewable energy between Saudi Arabia and South Africa.
