Bayern Munich are hopeful Germany midfield star Bastian Schweinsteiger will be fit to play Chelsea in the UEFA Super Cup on Friday despite suffering an ankle injury. The defensive midfielder limped out of Tuesday's 1-1 draw against Freiburg as European champions Bayern dropped their first Bundesliga points of the season, and a scan has revealed he has sprained his right ankle. In a statement, Bayern said they are hopeful the 29-year-old will take part in training on Thursday evening's training session in Prague before the match 24 hours later against Europa League winners Chelsea at the Eden Arena. Schweinsteiger cut a distraught figure when he missed the decisive shootout penalty in the 2012 Champions League final against Chelsea which allowed Didier Drogba to give the Londoners their first European Cup with the final spotkick.
