Serbian international midfielder Filip Djuricic has completed his transfer from Dutch side Heerenveen to Benfica in a deal worth 6 million euros ($7.8m, £5.1m), the Portuguese club have revealed. It was first revealed in February that the talented 21-year-old would be on his way to Benfica at the end of the season, and the move has now been confirmed by the Lisbon outfit in a statement to the Portuguese stock market. The length of contract signed by Djuricic was not made public. The player, who had been with Heerenveen since 2010, was also a target for Dutch clubs Ajax and Twente Enschede. Benfica are looking to rebuild after a disastrous finish to the 2012-13 season, which saw them miss out on the Portuguese title to Porto on the final day, lose to Chelsea in the Europa League final after conceding a last-gasp goal, and then lose 2-1 to Vitoria Guimaraes in the Portuguese Cup final, despite leading with 11 minutes to go.
