Gary Cahill was sent for an x-ray on his jaw during England's friendly against Belgium at Wembley on Saturday. In the first half of the match, England's final dress rehearsal before they head to the UEFA EURO 2012 in Poland and Ukraine, Chelsea defender Cahill was caught in a collision with Belgium's Dries Mertens. As a result, he collided with England goalkeeper Joe Hart and was left looking groggy. Mertens was booked and moments later, Cahill was taken off by England manager Roy Hodgson and replaced by Joleon Lescott, who later had to wear a heavy bandage to cover a cut eye. Both Cahill and fellow Chelsea central defender John Terry, who had a hamstring problem, underwent scans. "Cahill is slightly more of a concern because it's a jaw injury," Hodgson told ITV. "I am hoping the scan doesn't show a fracture and it will be a bruising situation. That wouldn't rule him out of the tournament." As for Terry, Hodgson said the Chelsea stalwart was "feeling a bit of a hamstring". England, who won the match 1-0 thanks to Danny Welbeck's first-half goal, had earlier in the week seen midfield duo Frank Lampard and Gareth Barry ruled out of the EURO 2012 due to injury.
