Edgaras Cesnauskis struck twice in the second half as visiting Lithuania took all three points in their FIFA World Cup™ qualifier against Liechtenstein at Rheinpark Stadion. It was a third straight defeat for the hosts in Group G, while Lithuania recorded their first win after taking one point from their opening two fixtures. Lithuania had just the better of a low-key first half and Cesnauskis netted after 51 and 75 minutes to decide the result. Ramunas Radavicius had the first decent chance of the game for the away side, Benjamin Buchel turning his volley over after 16 minutes. Philippe Erne's shot had Buchel's opposite number fumbling, albeit safely, moments later but the remainder of the half saw little attacking play of note. The deadlock was broken five minutes after the restart when Saulius Mikoliunas played the role of provider and Cesnauskis converted from 12 yards. Erne missed the target in response and Cesnauskis made it 2-0 with 15 minutes remaining, locating the top corner with a left-footed shot from outside the box. FIFA
