After a humiliating Cup loss on Thursday Dutch league leaders FC Twente took revenge on Sunday by booking a convincing 3-0 victory over Feyenoord. After Twente lost 2-1 to Second Division side FC Den Bosch on Thursday coach Steve McClaren was heavily criticized for not lining up his best players. In Sunday's league clash McClaren did use his best players and was rewarded with three points. Nacer Chadli and former Feyenoord player Luc Castaignos gave Twente an early lead and although Feyenoord pushed Twente backwards in the second half, the home-team expanded the lead. Dusan Tadic converted a free-kick in the 78th minute. "We responded the right way," said Twente coach McClaren. "It was hard, both physically and mentally. We knew we had to show it today in a big match. And we did, this was what we needed." The downside of Twente' s victory was an ankle injury for Chadli. The Belgian international limped off in the 64th minute. Number two ranked PSV Eindhoven had no difficulties with Heracles Almelo on Saturday. Dries Mertens, Luciano Narsingh, Kevin Strootman and Tim Matavz handed PSV the 4-0 win. Also on Saturday Vitesse surprised Ajax with a 2-0 win in Amsterdam, thanks to two goals by topscorer Wilfried Bony, who is on 12 goals now. FC Utrecht crushed Willem II 5-1 in Tilburg, while AZ led a stunning 2-1 defeat against VVV-Venlo. Twente are now on 28 points after 11 rounds, one ahead of PSV and four ahead of Vitesse. FC Utrecht climbed to the fourth place with 21 points, while Ajax and Feyenoord are already far behind with only 18 points.
