In-form striker Mario Gomez expects to extend his contract with Bayern Munich in the coming weeks. Gomez's current contract expires next summer but he appears poised to sign a new deal that will run through until 2016. The 26-year-old has been in career-best form this season, netting 23 Bundesliga goals to close in on the 28-goal record he set last term. The Germany international has scored nine in his past five games, including four in the 7-0 UEFA Champions League last-16 rout of FC Basel. "The probability of me renewing my contract is very strong. I feel good," Gomez said. Earlier this month Gomez's agent, Uli Ferber, said a deal was close. "We've had excellent discussions with Bayern and they all want an extension," he told Bild. "It could happen very soon."
