Vincent Hancock completed a skeet shooting sweep for the United States Tuesday, missing just twice in 150 shots to win the Olympic gold medal. Kimberly Rhode won the women's gold in skeet two days earlier while becoming the first American ever to win a medal in five consecutive Olympics. Hancock turned in a score of 74 out of 75 during the first three rounds of qualifying Monday and then missed just once in 50 tries during the last two rounds early Tuesday. That left him with a score of 123 heading into the 25 shots that made up the final round. He was one point in front of Denmark's Anders Golding and the two front runners both hit the target with their first 16 shots. When Golding missed his 17th shot, however, it gave Hancock some breathing room that he eventually did not need. Hancock was perfect in the finals for an Olympic record final score of 148. He is the first person to win two consecutive Olympic skeet titles. Golding finished at 146 to capture the silver. Nasser Al-Attiya of Qatar won a shootout with Russian Valeriy Shomin to take the bronze. It was the third Olympic medal ever for Qatar, all of them bronze. Hancock's win in 2008 came in a shootout over Tore Brovold of Norway.
